Brothers Charged with Assaulting Man and Killing Dog in Argentina

Two brothers have been charged in the Córdoba locality of El Bolsón. One faces charges of minor injuries against a man, and both are accused of killing a dog with a knife. According to the Argentine News Agency and the Córdoba Public Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred on the afternoon of July 9, 2025. One of the accused allegedly assaulted another man, causing a hematoma on his chest, which was certified by medical authorities. Subsequently, both approached a pit bull dog and inflicted deep cutting wounds on its neck and back, which ultimately led to the animal's death. The second crime was classified as a violation of National Law 14.346 for Animal Protection, Article 1, as accomplices, as the prosecution provided the veterinary report and the Forensic Medical Corps' report, which also determined the minor nature of the man's injuries. During the hearing, the accused stated that they knew the people involved from the neighborhood and that there were previous conflicts. They also mentioned they were heading to the dump and carrying knives to open trash bags. They claimed they began to be attacked with stones and that the dog was released to attack them, so they acted in that context. One of them added that he had been assaulted the day before and had received medical attention. The Guarantees Judge ordered a ban on approaching within one hundred meters and any contact with the victim for the duration of the investigation, which will extend until next June 11.
